Preseason Week 4: Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys Preview

Andy Jones Last Shot for a Roster Spot

With the recent questionable early cut of Rodney Smith and the previous injury to Chris Brown, Andy Jones has regained a little more life in the competition, he needs a great outing if he wants a roster spot.

Darius Jackson’s Bid for a Roster Spot

2016 sixth round pick, Darius Jackson has played very well this preseason and has put in a strong bid for a 53 man roster spot. Due to how crowded the backfield already is, he looks to be a shoe in for a practice squad spot. This is an important game for him to keep up the good work.

The Fullback Spot

Who will get the job as the starting fullback? Rod Smith or Keith Smith? Whoever doesn’t make looks to be getting a yellow slip in their locker and being sent home. Tonight is an important game for the competition, as it is their last chance, in game action to prove themselves.

Can Jameill Showers be a week 1 backup quarterback?

Jameill Showers knows the offense better than any other option, so, as of now, unless another quarterback is signed he looks to be Dak Prescott’s week 1 backup. He will get plenty of reps tonight against the Houston Texans. Fortunately, JJ Watt will not be in action.

Will Jerrod Johnson be QB2?

The Dallas Cowboys have just signed Jerrod Johnson today, and he will show what he has as a player.

RICO

Hopefully, Rico Gathers will see the field and make his case for the practice squad, even more so with the injury to James Hanna.

David Irving

The DCFOOTBALLDAILY Dallas Cowboys Featured Player of the Month in August hasn’t got to showcase his skills much this preseason missing 2 of 3 games, tonight that will change.

Young Defensive Backs

The speedy Anthony Brown and he hard hitting Kavon Frazier will get plenty of reps to show their worth tonight in the preseason finale against Houston.

Dax Swanson

Another possible return specialist worth looking at, can he play defensive back as well?
