November: Morris Claiborne
The season got off to a strong start where starting cornerback Morris Claiborne and star receiver Dez Bryant both had which they felt were both of their respected seasons. They got into several arguments with one another and perfected each others crafts together. They became so close through this year’s camp that they were wearing each other’s jerseys on the second to last walkthrough of training camp.
Asked why he was wearing Claiborne’s jersey, Bryant said: “just having a little fun. He’s a beast. Why not?”
As this season has gone along the Cowboys have now won 6 straight game and sit atop the NFC East after a recent dramatic fashioned overtime victory.
Morris Claiborne has been playing the best football of his career and he sits patiently waiting a new deal in a contract year. Now nobody has ever questioned his talent, considering he was selected 6th in the 2012 NFL Draft, however his healthy has always seemed to be an issue. He has not completed a full season and in last week’s game he once again got injured. If he cannot complete a full 16 games this season, his health will be the only thing to hold him back from receiving the high level contract his talent matches with.
2017 Statistics: 26 tackles, 1 INT 5 PD
Analysis: Claiborne has been playing really well this year and as long as he is healthy enough to get back out there on the field this year will be considered a success. If Claiborne’s injury will last for the majority of the regular season and it will not completely go away, he will not play until the Playoffs because this is a team that has been playing lights out and has a player in Anthony Brown who has predominantly been playing nickel corner but himself, or Orlando Scandrick has the ability to lineup wide and shift into the number two role as Brandon Carr takes over as the team’s starting corner.
