ALEDO, Texas – Tony Romo is back at, on the greens: the golfing greens. Romo is attempting to qualify for the 2017 U.S. Open in his home state of Wisconsin. The tour fields 156 golfers and is held, Jun 12, 2017 – Jun 18, 2017.
He will be participating in an 18-hole local qualifier Monday at Split Rail Links Golf Club, about 30 minutes west of Fort Worth. If he advances, the next course of action (no pun intended) will be sectionals on June 5, and if he advances from there he will be entered into the U.S. Open with the other athletes.
In 2010, Tony also attempted to qualify for the Open, however, his campaign was cut short due to his responsibilities with the Dallas Cowboys.
Fun Fact: Tony once beat Tiger Woods in a round of golf.
UPDATE (5/8): Tony shot 3 over par, will not be advancing this year, looking forwards to seeing him back at it next year as the U.S. Open.
